SMS Privacy Policy

This notice covers information connected to optional text notifications sent through Ministry Follow-Up, operated by Compassion Innovations LLC.

What we collect

When a staff member or approved care team volunteer saves a communication preference, or texts START, we collect their name, email address, selection, decision date, and the version of the disclosure shown. We collect a mobile number only when the person voluntarily selects SMS. We record delivery activity needed to operate and troubleshoot notifications.

How we use it

To confirm care team eligibility, honor the person’s choice, send transactional care assignments and reminders only after they opt in, keep consent records, and protect care information.

What we do not do

Mobile numbers and consent records are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with the messaging providers that deliver the messages, and only to deliver them.

One sender, many churches

Ministry Follow-Up sends on behalf of many churches, almost all of them from one shared number. A person’s consent is recorded for the church they serve and is not treated as consent for any other church. Stopping works the other way round: a carrier records a STOP against the number that sent to you, so a STOP to the shared number stops messages from the platform rather than from one church. A church that brings its own number is separate in both directions.

Frequency, charges, and choices

Message frequency varies with assigned care activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop messages. Reply HELP for help. Declining text messages does not affect care team participation or access to Ministry Follow-Up.

Care information and security

A care assignment message contains limited information and a private link. Authorized recipients must not forward that link. Detailed care information stays inside the protected workflow rather than in a text message. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, and we limit what a volunteer can reach to the single assignment they were given.

We provide limited information to the service providers who deliver the messages, including Twilio, only as far as delivering, securing, and supporting the service requires. Those providers may not use it for their own marketing.

Your choices

You may skip SMS enrollment without entering any information and carry on using Ministry Follow-Up. If you are enrolled, reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for assistance. Skipping or opting out does not remove you from a care team; your coordinators will use another authorized method to reach you.

Retention and contact

Consent records are kept for as long as the church uses Ministry Follow-Up, and after an opt-out, because a record of consent and withdrawal is what demonstrates the program was run properly. For questions or to request deletion, contact contact us.

Changes

We may update this notice as the program changes. The effective date above identifies the current version, and a material change may require renewed consent.
